Thai People Really Wear Pyjamas Outside

Is it strange to wear pyjamas outside the house? In this Thai lesson, discover why many Thai people feel comfortable heading to the morning market, the local 7-Eleven, or downstairs to collect a food delivery while still in their sleepwear. Explore Thai attitudes towards comfort, laziness and social boundaries, and find out where pyjamas are (and aren’t) acceptable.

Thai Vocabulary:
ชุดนอน (chút nɔɔn) – Pyjamas
ชุดลำลอง (chút lam-lɔɔng) – Casual clothes
อนุโลม (à-nú-loom) – To make an exception / to let something slide
กาลเทศะ (gaa-lá-thêe-sà) – Knowing what’s appropriate for the time and place
จ๋า (jǎa) – Full-on / to the extreme (slang)
ไม่เข้าใครออกใคร (mâi khâo khrai ɔ̀ɔk khrai) – Plays no favourites / can happen to anyone
