Asking for Something
Need to borrow a pen, or ask someone for a glass of water? In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask if someone has something using มี...ไหม, and how to answer with มี (yes, I have) or ไม่มี (no, I don’t have). You’ll then practise politely borrowing, asking for and returning everyday items like a pen, paper, a phone, cash, water, a plaster and tissues, using both ค่ะ and ครับ, with short, natural exchanges you can use with friends or strangers.
Thai Vocabulary:
มี...ไหม (mii...mǎi) – Do you have...?
ไม่มี (mâi mii) – Don’t have
ขอยืม...หน่อย (kɔ̌ɔ yʉʉm...nòi) – Can I borrow...?
ขอ...หน่อย (kɔ̌ɔ...nòi) – Can I have...?
คืน (kʉʉn) – To give back / return
Learning Thai through real situations helps you use new phrases with confidence. Keep listening, keep practising, and enjoy your Thai journey!
