The Car Broke Down

What would you do if your car or motorbike broke down in Thailand? This lesson goes through the most common problems drivers face, including running out of fuel, flat tyres, a car that won’t start, stuck gears, failing brakes and broken lights. It also covers the Thai you need to explain each problem to a mechanic. Along the way, you’ll learn the difference between ขับ (kàp) and ขี่ (kìi), how to ask for a full tank at the petrol station, and where to take a car versus a motorbike for repairs. The lesson finishes with a 10-question quiz where you describe the problem to the mechanic.

Thai Vocabulary:
รถเสีย (rót sǐa) – The car has broken down
