Parking in Thailand

How do people park in Thailand, and what rules should you know? This lesson looks at photos of parking around Thailand, including roadside parking, shopping malls, condos, apartments and houses. You’ll learn what the colours painted on the kerb mean, what happens if you park under a no-parking sign, why many Thai drivers reverse into parking spaces, and how mall car parks show which spaces are free. There’s also a look at special parking for expensive cars, park-and-ride near the BTS and MRT, and the arguments that start when someone blocks another person’s gate.

Thai Vocabulary:
ที่จอดรถ (thîi jɔ̀ɔt rót) – Parking space
ห้ามจอด (hâam jɔ̀ɔt) – No parking
ค่าปรับ (khâa pràp) – Fine (penalty)

Whether you drive in Thailand or just want to understand daily life here, this lesson is full of practical, everyday Thai.
