Let Oneself On
In this Easy Thai lesson, you’ll learn two useful verbs: ปล่อย (plòi), meaning to release or let go, and วาง (waang), meaning to put down or place. Through short, repeated sentences, you’ll practise releasing fish, birds, turtles and eels, asking someone to let go of your hand, and putting everyday objects like bags, keys, a remote and shoes on a table or chair.
The lesson then combines the two words into ปล่อยวาง (plòi waang), meaning to let go emotionally. This common Thai expression is used when someone is coping with loss or heartbreak.
Key phrases:
ปล่อยมือฉันนะ (plòi mʉʉ chǎn ná) – Let go of my hand
เธอวางกุญแจบนโต๊ะ (thəə waang gun-jaa bon tó) – She puts the keys on the table
ปล่อยวางเถอะนะ (plòi waang thə̀ ná) – Just let it go
อกหัก (òk hàk) – Heartbroken
Listen, repeat, and build your confidence using these words in everyday Thai!
