Give and Take

Learn the different ways to say “receive” in Thai! This lesson compares ได้, รับ, เอา, ได้รับ and ได้รับเอา through simple, repeated examples: getting money from a friend, receiving change from a market vendor, being given flowers, getting a car from Dad, and receiving love from family. You’ll also practise using จาก (from) to say who you received something from.

Thai Vocabulary:

เงินทอน (ngən tɔɔn) – Change (money)
แม่ค้า (mɛ̂ɛ káa) – Female vendor / Seller
